About Us

Greetings and thank you for visiting our store.  My name is Robin Coleman, and I am the Founder of Seba Asé.  Seba Asé is a lifestyle brand that provides community education through beautifully designed African inspired apparel.

Meaning behind our Brand Name:

Seba is the Kemetic word representing teacher and is sometimes used to represent the student. As a lifelong learner, I see myself as both.

Asé (pronounced Ah-Shay) is an African word from the Yoruba language, which originated in the country of Nigeria. Asé means three very important things:

1  Asé is a word of affirmation, meaning I'm in alignment or agreement with that. It's similar to the word ‘Amen'.

2 Asé is a word that means life force or life energy, what our Kemetic ancestors called the Sekhem.

3  Asé means the power to create/produce change (to speak things into existence).

I, as the developer of Seba Asé, see myself as one who is Teaching you to be in Alignment with the Life Force or Energy that has the Power to Produce or Create Change through educating you on the symbolism in the images that you wear so that you can mentally adopt the concepts and embody the power they represent.

I was motivated to create Seba Asé after taking the pilgrimage to Kemet (Ancient Egypt) in 2022.  Prior to my going, I had not researched anything about Ancient Egypt; my awareness was limited to the little knowledge I received in traditional schooling, the church, and what I'd heard from family who had been to Egypt before. My siblings went to Kemet in 2013 and had shared a wealth of information with me, but at that time, my heart and mind was not ready to receive.  I went on with life as usual working as a nurse seeing patients, empowering my colleagues as a nurse educator, and strategizing with healthcare leadership on ways to improve the lives of my community.

My brother Dominic has been to Kemet multiple times, & he shared my journey with me.

I began to ponder upon the mental health disparities of African Americans and how much of that was tied to our disconnect from and lack of knowledge of African culture and spirituality.  Every other ethnic group in the United States typically has some type of connection to their ancestral lineage and practices. That connection rarely, if at all exists for us. I also recognized the great awakening that was happening within the African American community to want to know about and be reconnected with our African roots: the collective consciousness rising.  I felt the shift within myself.  I knew my time to visit the motherland was upon me, and I knew I was in divine alignment because a sponsor manifested within 2 months of me making my mind up that I was going. My family went on the trip for 2 weeks for FREE.

I had the pleasure of visiting Kemet in 2022 with Ashra Kwesi on the "Know Thyself" tour. It was life changing to say the least.  Words cannot express the wonder and awe of the architecture, the floor to ceiling inscriptions of the divine texts on EVERY TEMPLE WALL & CEILING, not to mention the energy that you experience from standing on the land and in the temples.  The power is still there and it's something every human being should experience.  I learned so much while with Baba Kwesi, and I felt the the ancestors were calling for me to share what I learned  (and am unlearning -- so much of what we have been told about Kemet is not true or is a strong misrepresentation of the culture). I could no longer operate with cognitive dissonance and carry on as usual.  As soon as I came home, I started researching ways to stay connected.  I left my primary job as a nurse and spent a lot of time getting clear on my purpose and the path forward.

I researched Kemetic healing and learned about Master Yirser Ra Hotep, the Founder of Kemetic Yoga. Both me and my sister, Candice became his students and are now certified to teach Kemetic Yoga. I feel so blessed that I have been able to grow in Afrocentric knowledge and practices with my siblings.  Candice was the first in our family to study about Kemet and she also went to Kemet in 2013 with my brother, Dominic.

Both Baba Yirser and Baba Kwesi studied under the late great Dr. Yosef Ben-Jochannan, a world-renowned prolific historian of Ancient Africa. I continue to learn from Baba Yirser. I'm learning from gurus; I feel it is such a privilege to sit at the feet of these men, who both have been taking people to Africa annually for over 40 years for cultural enlightenment and cultural immersion tours. They've dedicated their lives to this and brought me along with them.  I pray that I make them and my other ancestors proud with the work that I am doing to empower the community.

I'm now studying Kemetic healing practices, Sekhem Energy Healing, Kemetic Shamanism, African herbalism,  and healing through sound vibration as our African ancestors did using the Sistrum.  I started a nonprofit, the Sekhem Institute for Holistic Healing, Inc, where I'm promoting health and wellness through natural remedies.  I have a public speaking platform called "Nurse Robin Speaks" where I lead health education seminars in addition to offering my signature shadow work coaching program, Wisdom Obtaining Wellness (W.O.W.); I expanded this to include somatic therapy through Kemetic yoga, sound healing, journaling, mindfulness meditation and breathwork. Last but not least, I create all natural luxurious self-care products under my Inner Alchemy Wellness Lab brand which will be sold exclusively through this site soon. I'm very intentional with everything I do. I know my life's work is to support people in their self-care journey while on their spiritual ascension; I get to provide this service through various modalities on multiple platforms.  Seba Asé is a significant catalyst for that.

This doorway is believed to be the portal that spirits pass through as they begin their journey to Amenta--the place where spiritual ascension occurs...and look at me...showing you the way.
